A teacher and a parent, building the thing we wished existed
Brain Mission Academy started with a simple question: why does test prep have to feel like punishment? A classroom teacher who knows exactly what the FAST asks and a parent who knows exactly what 4:30 pm on a school night feels like decided to build something better together.
Valena
Valena teaches 3rd grade in Florida, which means spending every school year side by side with the exact kids, standards, and test this program is built for. Valena knows the Florida B.E.S.T. standards inside and out, down to the difference between a “main idea” and a central idea (it matters, and it's on the test).
Valena is also the creator of the Drama Reading Toolkit, and has seen what happens when kids get to move, act, and play their way into reading. These aren't techniques pulled from a textbook. Valena has used them with real students, in a real classroom, and has the data to show they work.
Every passage and question in Brain Mission Academy goes past Valena before it reaches your child. If it doesn't match the rigor of the FAST, it doesn't ship.
“LOVE THE PASSAGES! They meet the rigour and match the types of passages used for the FAST.”
Jennifer
Jennifer is a parent first. Like a lot of parents, she wanted something better for her own child: practice that actually builds reading skills and confidence, and that a kid might even look forward to.
So she built it. Jennifer designed and built the Brain Mission Academy platform: the detective missions, the parent scripts, the family activities, and all the little details that make a 12-minute session feel like a game instead of homework.
Every feature gets the same test: would a tired parent on a Tuesday night actually use this? If the answer is no, it gets simpler.

Built by a teacher and a parent who believe every child deserves to feel confident on test day.
