Cookie Policy
The quick answer: we only use what's needed to make Brain Mission Academy work. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we never follow your child around the internet.
What are cookies?
Cookies are tiny text files a website saves in your browser. They help the site remember things, like that you're signed in.
Websites can also save small bits of information in your browser using something called local storage. It works like a cookie, but the information stays on your device. Throughout this page, “cookies” includes local storage.
Essential cookies we use
These are needed for the site to work, so they're always on:
- Signing in: when accounts launch, a secure session cookie will keep you logged in as you move between pages.
- Your preferences: things like your child's reading level, their detective partner and interests, and whether the parent script is turned on during sessions.
- Progress on this device: during our early preview, your child's mission results, vocabulary progress, and your parent notes are saved in your browser's local storage, so they never leave your device.
Analytics cookies
We don't use any analytics cookies right now. Later, we plan to add privacy-respecting analytics to see which pages are helpful and what to improve. We'll choose a tool that doesn't track individuals or build advertising profiles, and we'll update this page before we turn it on.
Third-party cookies
- Stripe: when you pay, Stripe's secure checkout may set its own cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud. These are covered by Stripe's privacy policy.
- Vercel: our hosting provider. If we turn on Vercel Web Analytics, it's designed to count visits without using cookies.
We don't load social media buttons, ad networks, or other tracking scripts. Our fonts are served from our own site, too.
No advertising or tracking cookies, ever
We don't show ads, we don't sell data, and we don't use cookies to track your family across other websites. That's a promise, not a setting.
How to manage cookies
You can view and clear cookies and site data in your browser's settings. Look for “Privacy,” “Cookies,” or “Site data”:
- iPhone/iPad (Safari): Settings, then Safari, then Advanced, then Website Data
- Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Cookies and other site data
- Edge or Firefox: Settings, then Privacy (or Cookies and site permissions)
Heads up: because essential cookies make the site work, blocking or clearing them may sign you out. During the preview, it will also erase your child's progress saved on that device.
